A reader of Canton-Sixes Patch who thought his friend may have been the man submitted a photo of the friend to us, and we passed it along to the police. The police have told us the man in the picture is not the man found Sunday.

5. On This Date in History: On Dec. 13, 1862, Union forces under the command of Maj. Gen. Ambrose Burnside assualted well-prepared Confederate defenses at the Battle of Fredericksburg in Maryland. The battle was an utter disaster for the Union, whose troops were slaughtered by Confederate musket fire well before they reached the stone wall the Southerners were using for cover.
