Two suspects remain held without bond after they were arrested yesterday for an alleged carjacking and attempted robbery in Woodstock.

Both Thomas Gasque, 21, of Decatur and Michael Moore, 21, of Stone Mountain are at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center after they allegedly carjacked someone at Lowe's Home Improvement on Highway 92 and attempted to rob Cherokee Bank

Both men have been charged with armed robbery, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and vehicle hijacking, said Cherokee Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.

They were arrested by Georgia State Patrol troopers after being stopped in Cobb County.

Woodstock Police Spokesperson Brittany Duncan said an alarm call from the bank was placed to the Cherokee County E-911 around 10:45 a.m. Friday and dispatchers informed police that an attempted robbery occurred at the bank, located at 159 Woodstock Square Avenue.

Duncan said the alleged car jacking happened just before the attempted robbery at the bank.

Cherokee Bank President and CEO Dennis Burnette said the suspect, wearing a black mask, entered the building, jumped over the teller counter, pointed what appeared to be a gun and demanded money.

"The tellers became quite alarmed and he panicked," Burnette said, adding the suspect left the location immediately after the tellers screamed.

Burnette noted the counters are built to prevent anyone from accessing the areas designated for the tellers, and "as you can imagine, that is quite a sight" to see a suspect jump over the counters.

He noted no one was hurt in the attempted robbery.
