Sixteen Cherokee County School District schools have been named to the inaugural Governor’s Student Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes "their commitment to the health and well-being of Georgia’s students through fitness and nutrition," district spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said.

Only 5 percent of Georgia’s 2,291 public schools were named to the honor roll. While 39 schools each were named gold and bronze medalists, 34 schools were named silver medalists.
