UPDATE: Courthouse Bomb Threats - Someone in Custody

UPDATE (1:25 p.m.): Authorities in Cobb County are saying that a person is in custody in the wake of today's bomb threats, which caused evacuations at the Cherokee Justice Center and the Cobb County Courthouse

"We've got somebody in custody," Col. Milton Beck said to Marietta Patch.

A press conference with the Cobb County Sheriff and Marietta police chief will be held later this afternoon.

UPDATE (12:35 p.m.): The Cherokee Sheriff's Office has completed its sweep of the Cherokee Justice Center and the historic courthouse, and found no proof of a bomb threat that was called in against both buildings earlier this afternoon.

Lt. Jay Baker of the Sheriff's Office said that proceedings at the courthouse will resume immediately, and investigators continuing to examine the threat.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Cherokee Sheriff's Office has evacuated the Cherokee Justice Center and the historic courthouse in downtown Canton after a bomb threat was called in against the facilities.

According to Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker, home foreclosure sales were being conducted at the courthouse when the bomb threat was called in to Cobb County 911.

Both buildings are currently being searched for explosives by deputies and K-9 units. So far, no devices have been found.
