2 Canton Runners in Boston Marathon as Explosion Rocks Race

UPDATE (5:50 p.m.): If you are trying to reach friends and loved ones who were participating in the Boston Marathon, you can 617-635-4500. Additionally, Google has set up a person finder for Marathon participants.

UPDATE (5:30 p.m.): According to Canton-Sixes Patch Facebook users, both Cyndi A. Smith and Kaye A. Starosciak are safe.

ORIGINAL STORY: Boston Police are reporting at least two people died and another 22 were injured after two explosions occurred Monday afternoon near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. 

Video of the incident shows the explosion knocking runners and bystanders to the ground following the blast. 

The Boston Marathon released a statement around 4 p.m. that said, "There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today's Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened."

According to the Boston Marathon's website, two runners in this year's race listed Canton as their hometown. If you wish to search for 2013 Boston Marathon runners, click here

The two Canton residents are listed as Cyndi A. Smith and Kaye A. Starosciak.
