A Cherokee County woman who was wanted for allegedly beating her ex-boyfriend has been arrested in Florida after being on the run since early 2012.
Karen Lynn King was described as the "last suspect" in the March, 2012 assault on Lyndon Baines Smith. Smith was allegedly beaten, stuffed into the trunk of his own car, and driven from the BridgeMill subdivision to Alabama.
Previous to investigators focusing their investigation on finding King, five other suspects, including Smith's sons, were arrested and charged with the assault.
According to a Cherokee Sheriff's Office release, King was arrested in Indian River County, Florida on April 6 at 10:30 p.m. At the time of her arrest, King was at her boyfriend's home.
King was wanted for aggravated assault with intent to murder, aggravated battery with disfigurement, and kidnapping with bodily injury.
