Students at Cummings Elementary School on Misawa Air Base (an American and Japanese Joint Air Force base) in Misawa, Japan hold the books they received thanks to Cherokee High School’s support of Operation Paperback.

The Cherokee High School Warriors have donated books to the children of America's warriors serving overseas.

The third grade class of Cummings Elementary School in Misawa, Japan received copies of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" donated by Cherokee High School with the assistance of Operation Paperback, a non-profit volunteer group that sends the books overseas. Book Browsers in Woodstock also gave their support to the project.

The school received enough copies of the book that each student was given a copy to take home with them and keep.

“The kids were ecstatic to receive their books!” Cummings teacher Kari Frazier wrote in her thank-you note to Cherokee High School.  “We wanted to take a moment to thank you for your donation and supporting these military kids with your gracious act.”
