A suspect in the shooting death of a Canton native at an Alpharetta townhome development in late January has been captured.
The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety announced that Shane Demetrice Woods, a suspect in Rose's murder, was arrested in Georgia. Woods was captured by the United States Marshal's Southeastern Fugitive Task Force with assistance by the Fulton County Sheriffs Office, according to George Gordon, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.
He has been transported to Alpharetta's jail annex. Woods was wanted in connection with the shooting death of Rose.
"Woods was being tracked throughout the southeast by federal agents and had fled to other states," Gordon said in his news release.
When the suspect returned to Georgia, his location was found and law enforcement officers moved in quickly to make the arrest.
"The Alpharetta DPS is very grateful for the valued assistance by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Squad and the Fulton Sheriffs Office," Gordon wrote.
He said no other information will be released tonight.
Formal charges of homicide have been filed against Woods shortly after Rose's death.
