Prince Gets Life Sentence Plus 30 Years for Stabbing Great Grandmother- Douglasville Patch
Gevin Prince pled guilty but mentally ill today in court, according to WSBTV, and received a life sentence in prison, plus 30 years, for stabbing his great-grandmother to death with a samurai sword.
The 16-year-old had been found competent to stand trial, according to a report from psychologists for the Georgia Department of Human Services. Prince is accused of stabbing his great-grandmother with a samurai sword on Aug. 15, 2011. Read more on Douglasville Patch.
Would-Be Thieves Smash Stolen Vehicle Through Midtown Restaurant- Midtown Patch
Less than a month after a Midtown package store was victimized when thieves utilized a vehicle to conduct a destructive smash-and-grab, a westside restaurant suffered a similar fate on Tuesday morning.
Around 6:45 a.m., Atlanta police responded to a call at the West Midtown Corner Tavern after would-be thieves smashed a stolen dark sedan through the front door of the eatery located at 1133 Huff Road. Read more on Midtown.
Police Seek Public's Help in 2 Burglary Investigations - Norcross Patch
Gwinnett County Police are seeking the public's assistance in two unrelated burglary investigations, one of which took place in unincorporated Norcross and the other in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
The Norcross investigation involves a series of 10 burglaries that began in December 2012, according to Cpl. Jake Smith, spokesman for the GCPD. The burglaries have been all commercial, mainly on South Norcross-Tucker Road, and usually take place after dark. See Norcross Patch for more on this story.
