Goodwill of North Georgia is giving job seekers throughout the metro area the chance to connect with dozens of employers. Eight of the organization's career centers will host job fairs on Wednesday, Feb. 6, according to a recent company press release.
Not far from Canton, employers will be on-site at the Woodstock and Cartersville locations recruiting workers for professional, warehouse and retail positions.
The Woodstock center is located at 9425 Highway 92 in Woodstock. The Cartersville center is located at 929 Joe Frank Harris Parkway SE.
"Each of our career centers holds regular job fairs, but this is the first time we’ve combined our efforts to create a single-day impact," says Elaine Armstrong, director of public relations.
Goodwill has career centers in Athens, Atlanta, Decatur, Duluth, Cartersville, Oakwood, Rome and Woodstock. Most locations will host a job fair from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Cartersville event will end at noon.
The nonprofit, known for its donation centers and stores, uses the money from its donated goods program to fund its career centers and employment services.
The facilities have become a resource for more than 30,000 job seekers and thousands of area businesses looking to hire staff. Equipped with computers, résumé-writing tools, local job postings, photocopiers, telephones and other resources, Goodwill career centers are free and open to the public. Goodwill also provides recruitment fair space, interview rooms and other services for local employers.
"We know many people start the year looking for new job opportunities. This one-day event will allow us to help them connect with employers, while highlighting the myriad of resources each location offers every day," Armstrong explains.
Job fair attendees should arrive in professional interview attire and bring several copies of their résumés. Find a list of employers and the positions they will be hiring for on Goodwill’s website.
