Epperson Road in Hickory Flat was closed briefly Wednesday afternoon due to localized flooding. The road, as well as other roads throughout Cherokee that were closed, has since reopened.

Aside from some localized flooding, Cherokee County walked away unscathed as a slew of storms barrelled through the metro Atlanta area on Wednesday.

The county has suffered no damage from severe storms, said Robby Westbrook, director of the Cherokee Sheriff's Office of Homeland Security-Emergency Management.

"We did have several streets that were flooded," he added.

The county was hit with both severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings throughout the day.

While no tornado touched down, some reports indicated some rotation occurred in the BridgeMill area near Canton.

The county was also hit with some minor flooding, mostly in the Canton area.

Flooding occurred along Bells Ferry Road between Butterworth Road and Marietta Highway in Canton; Gannt Road near A.J. Land Road in southeast Cherokee; Water Tank Road near East Cherokee Drive in the Macedonia community; 1600 Holbrook Campground Road in southeast Cherokee; Pecan Drive near Harbin Street in Canton; and Dupree Road near King Arthur Drive in Woodstock.

Epperson Road in Hickory Flat also suffered flooding. All roads in Cherokee are now safe for travel, said Cherokee Sheriff's Office Spokesman Lt. Jay Baker.

The weather in Cherokee will continue to stabilize and temperatures are expected to drop to around 34 degrees tonight.

Thursday will be sunny, with highs in the mid-40s and lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Friday will be much of the same, sunny with highs in the lower 40s and lows in the upper 20s.

The weekend will bring sunny skies and highs in the mid 50s and lows in the low to mid 30s.
