'Smash & Grab' Hits Foot Locker; Fire Ravages Split-Level Home

Early Morning Smash & Grab at Foot Locker on Metropolitan Pkwy - Cascade Patch

Early morning thieves targeted the Foot Locker located in the 2600 block of Metropolitan Parkway on Monday morning for a "smash & grab" using a stolen Dodge to break their way into the store and steal as much as possible.

The crash into the front glass of the store occurred at approximately 3 a.m., Monday morning.  According to a report in the AJC, more than a dozen criminals ran into the store after the vehicle broke open an entrance way. For more on this story, visit Cascade Patch.

UGA Police Release Sketch from Attempted Assault- Atlanta Journal Constitution

Police have released a sketch of the man who threatened to rape a 19-year-old UGA student as she walked the Georgia Botanical Gardens in Athens, according to the AJC. The woman told officers that a man pulled a knife on her and threatened to rape her as she walked on a trail at the garden, Jan. 18.

Fire Breaks out at Split-Level Home in Norcross Area - Norcross Patch

A house in the Norcross area was heavily damaged in a fire Sunday, according to authorities. No one was reported injured.

According to Gwinnett County Fire's spokesperson Capt. Tommy Rutledge, firefighters were dispatched around 10 p.m. to a split-level home off the 5800 block of Dana Drive, between Williams Road and Rockbridge Road in unincorporated Norcross. GSP: Driver Leads Cops on Chase Through Bartow, Crashes in Cobb- Cartersville Patch

Authorities say a Woodstock man ran a road block Saturday night in Bartow County, leading officers on chase that ended in a Cobb crash.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said Winston Keith Wiggins, 45, was arrested after he allegedly failed to stop at Old Alabama and Bates roads near Emerson where troopers and Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies were conducting a license check.
