Former Georgia Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers will earn a six-figure paycheck when he starts work for Georgia Public Broadcasting as an executive producer on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Chip Rogers will make more than Gov. Nathan Deal and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle each make in their public jobs when the former state Senator starts his new job Tuesday earning $150,000.

The AJC reports that he'll be the seventh executive at Georgia Public Broadcasting earning six-figures annually, despite a rather pedestrian title: Executive producer, community jobs program.

The position is paid solely through state taxpayers’ money.

Rogers quit the state Senate less than a month after his re-election to his seat to take the position with GPB, which he said "is like a dream come true." He had yet to complete his previous term or take the oath for the new term before he resigned.

Rogers came under fire for a meeting he organized in which Georgia Senate Republican leaders were briefed in the state Capitol on Agenda 21, which is a United Nations comprehensive plan for sustainable development,

The Woodstock resident's resignation from the state Senate forced a special election to be called, which was held on Jan. 8. His July 2012 Republican Primary foe, Brandon Beach, won the Senate District 21 seat less than a week before the current legislative session started.

Rogers' new job deals with reporting on job development in Georgia. Beach promised to make jobs his top priority in his Senate term.
